Around Edmonton

Alberta Legislature
The Alberta Legislature Grounds is one of the most popular parks in the city. Mature trees, beautiful architecture and plentiful flowers provide endless photo opportunities. (Indoor photographs are not permitted.)

Royal Alberta Museum & Government House
An excellent presentation of landscaping, gardens and architecture provides many options for wedding photos. There is no charge to use the grounds or building exteriors. The museum also has indoor rentals available for weddings or receptions. Contact: Administration at (780) 453-9100

McKay Avenue School
A provincial heritage site in downtown Edmonton—hosts the Edmonton Public Schools archives and museum. A beautiful gazebo and well-kept grounds around the building; arched doorways and stone steps. The inside can also be booked for receptions. Contact: Edmonton Public Schools - (780) 422-1970 No charge to use the grounds outside; fee for indoor photos.

Edmonton City Hall
City Hall offers great indoor and outdoor possibilities with railings, pillars, staircases and interesting backdrops. Indoor has great lighting, and outside the wading pool and fountains provide excellent possibilities for the young at heart. Booking Clerk: (780) 496-8251

City Parks
Did you know that Edmonton has the largest continuous park system in North America? With so many to chose from, great outdoor pictures can be made nearly anytime of the year. Of course access to the parks is free, but some can be very crowded at certain times. The following are a few of the most ‘picturesque’ parks in town.

St. Albert

Red Willow Park - trail system along the Sturgeon River, Large wooden train trestle, St. Albert Place (city hall), and various other bridges and parks along the trails.

John Janzen Nature Center - Located right next to Fort Edmonton Park, the Nature Center offers varied natural parkland for beautiful photo opportunities. A bridge leading over a small pond leads into a system of nature trails which are great places to spend some time exploring - and taking pictures! Phone: (780) 496-2925)

Festival Place (Sherwood Park)

Beautiful grounds with pathways, bridges, and a fountain highlight the outdoor options. The main theatre, banquet hall and stage can also be booked for your ceremony or reception.

Prince of Wales Armouries

The Armoury is a large historical building with some potential for photography. The interior hallways contain some attractive brick features and there are some old wooden stairways with image potential. The building's exterior also has some good photo locations.

La Boheme (Hotel, bed & breakfast)
Edmonton's 1st Luxury Apt, built in 1912, has been meticulously restored room by room and appointed with authentic period furniture and decor. Rooms are large suites, each with a different theme - Da Vinci, Buenos Aires, etc.

McGrath Mansion

The exterior of this home has been recently renovated to enhance its Victorian splendor. Beautiful landscaping including a fountain and mature trees compliment the turn-of-the-century style of this mansion.

Jasper
A quick 3 hours by car presents virtually limitless possibilities for amazing photography. Rugged mountains, surging rivers and much more provide a spectacular backdrop for any photographs.

Yoho
Like Jasper on steroids, Yoho presents dramatic peaks, surging rivers and rugged back country landscapes for truly unique images.

Elk Island
A mere half hour away, Elk Island is one of the true undiscovered gems in the Edmonton area. The park offers breathtaking picture potential anytime of year for couples that want a BIG slice of the outdoors in their shots … or maybe a bison or two.

Banff
Probably one of the most photographed places on earth, Banff offers amazing vistas for wedding pictures, and some pretty cool honeymoon destinations as well.

Lake Louise
Apart from the majestic Chateau Lake Louse and its stunning vistas, Lake Louise is within a short drive to an amazing assortment of natural wonders and breathtaking viewpoints.
